Our Vision

Woodland BIO’s mission is to develop waste-to-fuel processes that power a circular future, starting with the inaugural woody biomass-to-gasoline facility in Tioga County, PA. The process is born of the idea that smart business and environmentalism are two sides of the same coin: creating efficient circular systems will benefit profitability, communities, and the environment simultaneously.

Woodland BIO is the brainchild of Luca Pandolfi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, born from the conviction that smart business and environmental stewardship are two sides of the same coin. By designing efficient circular systems, the company aims to enhance profitability while delivering measurable environmental benefits.

The model centers on utilizing carbon already within the natural cycle to produce gasoline compatible with existing vehicles and local distribution infrastructure. In doing so, Woodland BIO offers a practical alternative to the traditional paradigm of extracting, transporting, refining, and burning sequestered hydrocarbons—an approach that releases additional CO2 with limited recapture.

The concept was initially developed through an independent study at Ithaca College, where Luca evaluated pathways to commercialize renewable liquid fuels using technologies available or nearing readiness. Over two semesters, the research confirmed feasibility and evolved into a detailed business plan aimed at bridging the gap between laboratory innovation and market deployment. The idea debuted in the 2013 Ithaca College Business Idea Competition, where it earned a first‑place award and strong validation from the business community.

Following graduation, Luca built operating experience across startups in marketing and business development. In 2021, he returned to the concept with a revised prototype tailored for the Northeast, laying the groundwork for the company’s current commercialization effort and the formation of Woodland BIO.
